Yaroslav Hrytsak: Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor at the Ukrainian Catholic University and Director of the Institute of Historical Studies at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Hrytsak is the founding editor of Ukraina Moderna. Author of articles and books on the modern history of Ukraine and Central-Eastern Europe, including the synthesis Outline of the History of Ukraine: Formation of the Modern Ukrainian Nation in the 19th–20th Centuries (1996; Engl. transl. 2006), the monograph A Prophet in His Own Land: Ivan Franko and His Community (2006), and the collections Life, Death, and Other Troubles (2008; 2010) and Passions for Nationalism: Old History in a New Light (2011), as well as the editor of the two-volume selected works of Ivan Lysiak-Rudnytsky’s Historical Essays (1994). He lives and works in Lviv.
Yuriy Shapoval: Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Chief Researcher at the Institute of Political and Ethno-National Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Author of more than 800 publications in various genres, which have been published in different languages and countries. He is actively involved in radio and television collaborations. With CIUS’s support and participation, Shapoval co-wrote and presented the 2019 documentary film Ivan Lysiak-Rudnytsky.
