Dr. Elżbieta Kwiecińska is a lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Warsaw. Recently she published, with Pavel Skigin, an op-ed titled “The Discourse of Privilege: Western Europe and the Russian War against Ukraine.” She is a mentor to Ukrainian students at the Invisible University for Ukraine, Central European University, Vienna/Budapest, and does oral history interviews with Ukrainian refugees within the Testimonies from the War international project. Last year, she defended a PhD thesis titled “A Civilizing Relay: The Concept of Civilizing Mission as a Cultural Transfer in East-Central Europe, 1815–1919” at the European University Institute, Florence. Kwiecińska holds three master’s degrees: in history, law and sociology, and she teaches in English, Polish, and Ukrainian.
